Our Committees
The Zainabia Center is run by dedicated volunteers organized into 11 committees, each serving a vital role in our community's mission.
The Programs Committee is the heartbeat of the Zainabia Center, responsible for organizing and overseeing all weekly and seasonal religious programs, lectures, and commemorations. Our goal is to ensure every program is meaningful, accessible, and spiritually enriching for all community members, from the youngest attendees to our elders.
The Youth Committee is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Muslim leaders. We plan, coordinate, and support all youth programs including Sunday School, Little Momins, Zainab Scouts, and the Al-Ajal Detroit Youth Group. Our goal is to build a strong Islamic identity and sense of community belonging in young Muslims.
The Funeral Committee provides compassionate and dignified funeral services to our community, including ghusl (ritual washing), Salaat al-Janazah (funeral prayer), and burial coordination. Our goal is to ensure that every Muslim family in our community is supported with care, respect, and proper Islamic rites during their most difficult moments.
The Finance Committee is responsible for the financial stewardship of the Zainabia Center. We manage budgeting, auditing, fundraising initiatives, and the transparent use of all donations and membership fees. Our goal is to ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of our center so it can continue serving our community.
The Building Committee oversees the maintenance, renovation, and expansion of our facility. We ensure our mosque and community center remain safe, welcoming, and well-equipped for all programs and events. Our goal is to create an environment where every visitor feels at home and that reflects the dignity of our community.
The Sports Committee organizes and manages all athletic activities at the Zainabia Center, including basketball leagues, open gym sessions, cricket, volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. Our goal is to promote physical health, friendly competition, and brotherhood and sisterhood through sports and recreational activities.
The Social Services Committee coordinates community support programs including food assistance, counseling referrals, immigration support, and family services. Our goal is to ensure no member of our community faces hardship alone and that we serve as a resource for those in need, both within and beyond our mosque.
The Education Committee develops and oversees all formal educational programs at the center, including Sunday School, adult Islamic studies, seminars, and workshops. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible Islamic education for all ages that strengthens faith, knowledge, and practice.
The Outreach Committee builds bridges between our community and the broader public through interfaith dialogue, community service events, and social media engagement. Our goal is to represent Islam in the best light, foster understanding, and welcome all who are curious about our faith and community.
The Legal Committee ensures the Zainabia Center operates in full compliance with local, state, and federal laws. We handle organizational governance, non-profit compliance, contracts, and legal counsel. Our goal is to protect our institution and its members so that we can focus on our mission without legal hindrance.
The Media Committee manages the Zainabia Center's digital presence and communications, including social media, photography, videography, and live streaming of programs. Our goal is to amplify our community's voice, preserve our events for future generations, and keep members and supporters connected and informed.
